Key Responsibilities
- Leadership and Team Management
- Lead a team of employees to achieve daily business goals and objectives.
- Develop and implement strategies to improve team performance and productivity.
- Provide coaching and training to employees to ensure they have the necessary skills and knowledge to perform their jobs effectively.
- Operational Management
- Oversee the daily operations of the distribution center shift, including workload planning, order picking, sorting, and packing.
- Ensure that all processes are completed on a timely basis and that daily business goals and special project requirements are met.
- Collaborate with other departments to plan and share resources to ensure customer and business objectives are met.
- Health and Safety
- Ensure that all employees are properly trained to perform their jobs safely and efficiently.
- Maintain all Occupational Health & Safety Act safety standards, including reporting of accidents, injuries, damages, and potential threats to safety.
- Inventory Control
- Ensure that the company's inventory control processes are followed, including regular participation in cycle counting.
- Communication and Collaboration
- Communicate effectively with department managers, other shift managers, and supervisors as needed to ensure timely and relevant communication and the flow of information between departments.
- Collaborate with supply chain departments of customers to obtain required routing information and resolve shipping-related issues.
- Documentation and Reporting
- Maintain all required documentation in a well-organized and easily accessible manner.
- Collect, report, and provide feedback on labor management standards.
- Continuous Improvement
- Drive key improvement initiatives to develop best practices and provide performance improvement against established targets/KPIs.
Requirements
- Education and Experience
- Supervisory or management experience of 5 or more years within a large-scale distribution center.
- University or college degree, or the ability to demonstrate equivalent skills developed through work experience.
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent knowledge of distribution center operations, including storage methods and material flow.
- Procedural awareness and the ability to coordinate the efforts of multiple work streams into a single output.
- Working knowledge of the requirements for the safe operation of a variety of mobile equipment.
- Excel, Outlook, Word, and working knowledge of WMS principles.
- Strong organizational and time management skills.
- Strong work ethic and self-motivational ability.
- Excellent command of the English language, both verbally and written.
- The ability to communicate effectively, both on an individual level with team members and across departments within an organization.
