Position Overview:
Ensure our clients receive high-quality products by implementing quality engineering practices across both internal manufacturing processes and externally sourced materials. This position will be instrumental in addressing warranty claims, resolving field-related issues, managing supplier quality, and facilitating the introduction of new products.
Key Responsibilities:
Assist in New Product Development initiatives by utilizing stage gate and APQP methodologies (oversee project timelines, PPAP, Control Plans, D/PFMEA, MSA, Inspection Requirements, gauge evaluations). Spearhead the design, validation, and deployment of inspection, testing, and measurement tools. Conduct audits of internal processes and supplier operations. Maintain and enhance the Quality Management System by developing and updating procedures, work instructions, and documentation. Aid in the management of non-conforming materials. Lead Cost of Quality (COQ) initiatives by analyzing operational data and warranty information. Create educational materials on relevant topics and provide training to staff on methodologies and Key Performance Characteristics (KPCs). Serve as a subject matter expert in problem-solving techniques. Employ root cause analysis tools that emphasize collaborative problem-solving to address issues in design or production and support the implementation of corrective measures. Facilitate process improvement sessions with a proactive approach. Collaborate with department leadership to identify and enhance Key Performance Indicators. Provide training to employees on effective gauging, testing, and inspection techniques. Communicate and address significant quality concerns identified through daily management or supplier inspections. Prepare and deliver reports to team members and management as necessary.Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in a relevant field. ASQ Certified Quality Engineer certification is a plus. At least 5 years of experience in quality engineering is preferred. Background in automotive and lean manufacturing is advantageous. Demonstrated ability to plan and execute projects that meet established goals and deadlines. Strong understanding of stage gate and APQP processes (PPAP). Capable of producing clear reports and presentations to convey project status. Excellent leadership skills and decision-making capabilities; adept at leading effective meetings and cross-functional teams. Solid background in problem-solving and root cause analysis (8D, A3, 5 Whys, Fishbone). Six Sigma certification (Yellow, Green, or Black Belt) is a plus. Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, demonstrating professionalism and diplomacy. Outstanding planning and organizational skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple projects, and utilize time management techniques effectively. Strong work ethic and self-motivation. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint). Willingness to participate in ongoing educational and training opportunities. Strong ability to interpret blueprints and knowledge of GD&T. Proven experience in auditing and managing supplier relationships. Experience in a unionized environment is beneficial.
