Job Summary:

The Regional Municipality of Wood Buffalo is seeking a highly skilled and experienced Transit Inspector to join our team. As a Transit Inspector, you will be responsible for overseeing the daily delivery of transit services, providing direct supervision of Transit Bus Operators, and ensuring the safe and efficient operation of our transit system.

Key Responsibilities:

• Employee Development: Oversee field operations during shift for assigned team member, verifying processes and procedures are consistently applied and that equipment and employee requirements are fulfilled. Ensure operators are trained, certified, competent, and fit for duty on an ongoing basis. Evaluate operator performance and efficiency, providing ongoing mentoring, coaching, and support to staff.

• Service Delivery: Coordinate and monitor the delivery of all transit services to ensure services are provided in a safe, efficient, and timely manner. Manage daily service changes on the road and respond to transportation requests, issues, and concerns. Report all incidents immediately and assist with incident investigations as required.

• Departmental Coordination: Ensure compliance with rules, regulations, collective agreement, policies, and procedures. Prepare daily reports and accurately record all relevant service-related impacts, including passenger counts, public information, service frequencies, changing travel patterns, and demands.

Requirements:

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent required. Valid First Aid/CPR Certificate is an asset. Completion of a defensive driving course is an asset.

• Two (2) years of experience in a public transit operations environment. A minimum of one (1) year experience in a leadership role. Experience as a supervisor in a unionized environment considered an asset.

Working Conditions:

• Must be willing to work outside in all conditions. Immunizations are strongly recommended for work in unsanitary conditions. Must be medically and physically able to perform job.
