Job Title: Forklift Operator - Shipping

Under the direction of the Shipping Supervisor, this position will be responsible for coordinating the accurate fulfillment of customer orders, in accordance with all Dairy procedures, safety and health regulations.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Loading, unloading, shipping, and receiving warehouse items.
  • Transporting materials to different locations within the facility.
  • Optimizing loads to ensure operational efficiency.
  • Securing loads transportation.
  • Inspecting for damages to vehicles.
  • Operating and managing technical equipment.
  • Managing inventory by utilizing RF scanning equipment.
  • Picking and wrapping orders for shipment.
  • Identifying workplace safety hazards.
  • Adhering to safety management standards.
  • Adhering to production schedules.
  • Actively learning how to complete paperwork required in Shipping. Understanding controlled documents.
Additional Duties:
  • Assisting in equipment changeovers, setting up or tearing down machinery as required on shipping production lines.
  • Assisting with overseeing the boxing and skidding of product on the shipping production lines.
  • Understanding and being able to fulfill all customers' pallet patterns and stacking requests.
  • Communicating effectively with Supervisors, Lead Hands, and other employees.
  • Maintaining excellent communication between all team members.
  • Working in an efficient, timely, safe, and productive manner at all times.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement activities, including training of others.
  • Any other duties as required.
Requirements:
  • Proven ability to work safely.
  • Ability to read and understand packaging, shipping documents, and safety guidelines.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to perform basic math.
  • Excellent hand-eye coordination, peripheral vision, and spatial awareness.
  • Efficient individual with excellent time management skills.
  • Ability to lift 50 pounds.
  • Attention to detail.
  • Working knowledge of basic tools and vehicle maintenance a plus.
  • Flexibility of hours when necessary.
  • Some work on statutory holidays and/or weekends.
  • Ability to stand for long periods of time.
