Job Description

The Systems Engineering team at Motorola Solutions is driving the development of secure, reliable, and scalable security solutions. As a Senior Systems Engineer, you will play a key role in leading the technical design of our appliance products and working closely with our product, project, and development teams to implement successful product launches from concept to production.

Responsibilities
  • Take technical leadership in delivering mission-critical products with utmost care in quality.
  • Design and qualify hardware appliances for our industry-leading, end-to-end security monitoring solutions, including rackmount NVR and AI servers and workstations.
  • Work with ODM/OEM partners to design, validate, and deliver top-quality/performance appliances and solutions.
  • Collaborate with the product management team to analyze product requirements and work closely with the project management team to define timelines for product delivery.
  • Responsible for the performance measurement, analysis, qualification, and productization of platforms that host our storage server and clients.
  • Measure and report on the performance of various components of our system, including graphics, network, memory, storage, etc.
  • Identify and make recommendations to remove or reduce performance bottlenecks.
  • Collaborate with manufacturing engineering teams to ensure a smooth transition from product development to product launch.
  • Build relationships with internal software teams, technical support, product management, sourcing, manufacturing, and others, including third-party vendors.
  • Participate and lead in the RFP process for OEM vendor and solution selection.
Qualifications
  • Degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or related technical discipline.
  • 5+ years of experience in related hardware technologies.
  • Strong leadership and interpersonal skills, effective communicator at all organizational levels.
  • Ability to automate in Python, PowerShell, and Bash or similar.
  • Highly organized, good attention to detail, capable of multi-tasking and following through on tasks to completion.
  • Self-motivated and proactive with a desire to innovate.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills, including the ability to produce clear, concise documentation for a variety of audiences.
  • Software development methodologies and OOB patterns.
  • Self-motivated, with the ability to learn quickly and independently.
  • An understanding of enterprise and datacenter technologies, including SATA, SAS, PCIe, DP, HDMI, RAID, SAN/NAS, etc.
  • Experience with Atlassian tools: Jira, Bitbucket, Confluence.
Location

This position is based in Vancouver, BC, and the candidate must reside in the Greater Vancouver Area as they will be required to go into the office on a hybrid work schedule.

Compensation

The base salary range for this position in British Columbia is $95,000 - $110,000 CAD.
