DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

As a key member of the Building Quality Assurance division at McIntosh Perry, your responsibilities will encompass the following:

  • Conduct comprehensive reviews of architectural drawings, specifications, shop drawings, and material submissions;
  • Execute regular field inspections and mock-up evaluations, utilizing a reporting framework to identify and address action items as necessary;
  • Prepare and assess reports, effectively communicating review outcomes to clients, including organizing meetings as required;
  • Perform on-site evaluations to verify the efficacy of building enclosures, focusing on assessments for water and air infiltration and guard rail systems;
  • Support builders and developers in navigating new construction techniques, resolving deficiencies, or addressing claims of inadequacies;
  • The ideal candidate should demonstrate flexibility and a willingness to engage in a blend of fieldwork and office tasks, coordinating travel to designated sites as needed;
  • Respond to client inquiries regarding proposals and other project-related matters;
  • Identify potential clients and establish connections to bolster our business development efforts;
  • Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned within the Buildings Group;
  • Perform other tasks as may be designated.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor's Degree or College Diploma in Civil/Structural Engineering, Building Science, or Architectural Science;
  • Familiarity with Building Science Principles and Building Envelope Technologies is considered advantageous;
  • Up to 5 years of experience in residential, commercial, or industrial construction and/or building evaluations;
  • Professional Engineer (P. Eng.) or Building Science Specialist (BSS) designation, or progress towards obtaining such credentials, would be beneficial;
  • Health & Safety training relevant to construction projects is an asset;
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, along with excellent interpersonal abilities;
  • Exceptional time management and organizational skills, with the capacity to juggle multiple priorities within a dynamic organization;
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, including MS Teams, Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and SharePoint;
  • A valid G driver's license, along with access to a vehicle that is properly registered and insured for travel.
