About the Role

Xcel Construction Limited is seeking a skilled and motivated Apprentice Electrician to join our team. As an Apprentice Electrician, you will assist experienced electricians in the installation, maintenance, and repair of electrical systems in residential and commercial structures.

Key Responsibilities
  • Assist in the installation of electrical systems, including underground wiring and cables, surface mount and/or overhead cables, and power generation systems.
  • Conduct routine maintenance and repairs to ensure the integrity of electrical systems.
  • Test and measure voltage, loads, and ground faults to identify potential issues.
  • Design and construct single-phase and multiphase service for single or multimeter installations.
  • Splice, join, and connect wires to ensure safe and efficient electrical connections.
  • Supervise and instruct apprentices in electrical installation and maintenance procedures.
  • Collaborate with other workers to complete electrical projects efficiently.
  • Ground and bond electrical equipment to ensure safety and compliance with regulations.
  • Estimate costs and materials for electrical projects.
  • Renovate electrical systems in residential and commercial structures.
  • Conduct preventive maintenance programs to identify potential issues before they become major problems.
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate electrical installations.

Requirements
  • College/CEGEP education in electrical engineering or a related field.
  • 1-2 years of experience in electrical installation and maintenance.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills to collaborate with colleagues and clients.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment with tight deadlines.
  • Physical stamina to perform heavy lifting and standing for long periods.
