PAL Aerospace is currently inviting qualified candidates for the position of Structural Assessment - Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Engineer. We are open to various levels of experience and encourage applicants from Ontario, Quebec, and the Atlantic Provinces to consider this opportunity. Our workforce has the flexibility to operate from any of our PAL offices throughout Eastern Canada, with options for hybrid and remote work arrangements depending on the role.

Key Responsibilities:

Execute tasks related to aircraft modification and repair projects across a diverse range of aircraft, from normal to transport category fixed and rotary wing. Conduct structural analyses, including static, dynamic, fatigue, and damage tolerance assessments. Develop Finite Element Models (FEMs) utilizing CAD geometry, meshing, and executing solutions. Manage large-scale finite element models effectively. Perform classical stress analysis calculations. Establish and define inspection protocols based on fatigue and damage tolerance evaluations. Size structural components, parts, and assemblies from both static stress and fatigue perspectives. Determine allowable stress levels for fatigue sizing. Support the structural design process to ensure compliance with quality standards for fatigue and damage tolerance. Work independently on specific projects or collaboratively within a team. Prepare engineering and airworthiness documentation, including reports on engineering analyses that clearly outline methodologies, assumptions, reference data, safety margins, and compliance reports necessary for certification. Provide support and technical guidance in structural strength to other engineering disciplines. Undertake additional responsibilities as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

A minimum of 3 years of experience in a technical engineering capacity supporting aircraft development, modifications, and/or repairs. A bachelor's degree in engineering, preferably in Aerospace or Mechanical Engineering. Candidates with significant relevant experience (5 years) may be considered in lieu of an engineering degree. Familiarity with airworthiness regulations and standards from Transport Canada, FAA, and/or EASA is preferred. Experience in Design Approval Organization (DAO) activities is advantageous. Proficiency in CAD software (Solidworks and AutoCAD) is preferred. Knowledge and experience with aircraft structures and static stress analysis. Familiarity with Finite Element Modelling Software (e.g., FEMAP/NASTRAN) and Fatigue and Damage Tolerance Software (e.g., NASGRO) is beneficial. Experience in preparing engineering reports. Knowledge of aircraft procedures and publications such as AMM, SRM, AFM, IPC, and scheduled maintenance. Strong organizational and time management skills to manage multiple projects simultaneously. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with a keen attention to detail. Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite. Strong problem-solving abilities. Capability to work independently and collaboratively in a team environment with strong interpersonal skills.
