Position Overview: We are seeking a skilled Counselor-Expert in Civil Liability to enhance our operations at Intact Financial Corporation. This role involves providing support to clients regarding their claims, catering to both corporate and individual needs through telephonic communication. You will play a crucial role in guiding clients through the claim process, evaluating the legitimacy of claims, conducting interviews to ascertain liability, assessing damages, and negotiating settlements when required.
Key Responsibilities:
- Engage with clients to clarify the claims process, address inquiries, and ensure outstanding service delivery;
- Evaluate clients' insurance policies and elucidate their coverage concerning the claims presented;
- Collect detailed information via phone regarding the incident from insured individuals, third parties, and other relevant parties, collaborating with experts across the region;
- Determine potential liability of the insured and/or third parties based on comprehensive investigation results;
- Assess the reasonableness and validity of claimed damages;
- Maintain effective communication with clients to keep them updated on their claims;
- Document and annotate files meticulously in accordance with company protocols;
- Negotiate claims with third parties when appropriate;
- Manage expenses and external costs judiciously;
- Work collaboratively with various departments such as recovery, underwriting, appraisal services, and legal;
- Participate in disaster response efforts as necessary;
- Attend settlement discussions and court proceedings.
Qualifications:
- Possess a 5A claims expert certification;
- Hold a college diploma or equivalent relevant training;
- Have 5 to 7 years of experience in managing personal and commercial property claims;
- Exhibit a strong commitment to customer service with excellent communication skills;
- Demonstrate expertise in civil liability claims;
- Possess strong analytical and problem-solving abilities;
- Fluency in both French and English is essential for effective communication with clients.
