Nova Scotia Health is seeking a Medical Physicist to lead the development and implementation of a Provincial Quality Assurance program for Diagnostic Imaging departments. As a key member of the Department of Medical Physics, you will play a vital role in ensuring the quality and safety of Diagnostic Imaging equipment throughout the province.
The successful candidate will have a strong track record of funded research in Diagnostic Imaging physics and will be responsible for designing and implementing the QA program, leveraging existing expertise and personnel within NSH. This position will be based out of Halifax, Nova Scotia, with travel to support sites throughout the province.
Key responsibilities include:
- Evaluating radiological imaging equipment performance and performing acceptance testing
- Providing radiation dose calculations and risk evaluation for patients and staff
- Overseeing mammography accreditation by the Canadian Association of Radiologists
- Supporting the selection of new equipment in the RFP process and developing new imaging applications and protocols
- Developing training requirements and competency assessment frameworks for QA technologists
The ideal candidate will have a Master's in Medical Physics, certification by the Canadian College of Physicists in Medicine, and a strong research portfolio with a history of grant funding. Experience in commercialization of technologies, industry collaboration, and teaching and supervisory experience at the graduate level are also desirable.
