Position Overview:

Our expanding company is currently in search of a skilled Locksmith Technician to join our Woodbridge Branch. This role demands extensive knowledge of architectural door hardware, including Medeco restricted keyways and other relevant systems. The technician will also engage with electronic security systems, key management, and adhere to local building and life safety regulations, along with experience in fire and burglary safes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Install door hardware and related products according to specifications.
  • Repair and service door hardware to meet client expectations.
  • Maintain and repair safe bolt works, combination locks, and time delay locks.
  • Possess a working knowledge of combination lock manipulation and drilling techniques.
  • Design and manage master key systems, both standard and high-security.
  • Demonstrate strong knowledge of common and restricted cylinder pinning.
  • Innovate solutions to ensure all client equipment remains operational, considering retrofit options during on-site visits.
  • Respond promptly and professionally to customer inquiries.
  • Consult with clients to recommend enhancements to physical security measures.
  • Prepare and submit all necessary documentation in a timely and professional manner.
  • Ensure company vehicle is operated and maintained in accordance with policies.
  • Safeguard the security of company vehicles, tools, equipment, and inventory.
  • Assist with the relocation and installation of vaults and safes as directed.
  • Participate in the refurbishment of safes and vaults, including painting tasks.
  • Be available for occasional out-of-town assignments.
  • Adhere to the on-call schedule.
  • Cross-training in electronic security will be provided and is essential.
  • Additional duties may be assigned as necessary.

Experience Requirements:

  • Minimum of 2-5 years of experience as a locksmith or safe technician.
  • Proven diagnostic abilities to systematically identify and resolve technical issues.
  • Welding experience is an asset but not mandatory.
  • Familiarity with electronic security systems is advantageous but not required.
  • A valid driver's license is essential, and a driver's abstract will be requested.
  • A criminal background check will be necessary.
  • Experience in delivering exceptional customer service to a diverse clientele.
  • Intermediate computer skills are required.

Knowledge and Education Requirements:

  • Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
  • Certification through relevant associations and/or manufacturers.
  • A journeyman certificate is a significant asset.

Personality Traits:

  • Self-motivated and composed under pressure.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently while also taking direction effectively.
  • Capability to lift 25 kilograms or more.
  • Punctual and dependable.
  • Physical tasks may involve moving heavy equipment.
