Job Title: Labourer/Landscaper

Black & McDonald is seeking a skilled Labourer/Landscaper to join our team. As a Labourer/Landscaper, you will be responsible for maintaining various Manitoba Hydro site locations in the City of Winnipeg and surrounding areas.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Water grass seed and sod using a water truck.
  • Tend to various sites, digging trenches, backfilling, topsoil, seed, and sod installations.
  • Power rake off sidewalks, parking lots, and yards.
  • Operate larger powered machinery and equipment, such as 5-ton minidumps, dump trailers, chainsaws, leaf blowers, weed eaters, power rakes, concrete saws, and jackhammers.
  • Move backfill material, including crushed rock, sand, soil, and sod, with a wheelbarrow.
  • Sweep and tidy work areas to maintain cleanliness.
  • Conduct necessary repairs on equipment or other outdoor structures, such as fences and gates.
Requirements:
  • Class 5 driver's license (Class 3 encouraged).
  • Experience in lawn care, preferably with sod, topsoil, and seed installation.
  • Availability to work Monday to Friday between 7 am and 5 pm and occasional weekends (if required).
  • Able to operate a variety of equipment and tools.
  • Able to lift 20-30 pounds.
  • Enjoy working outdoors in various temperatures.
  • Extensive periods of sitting, standing, and bending down during shifts.
  • Ability to understand verbal directions and closely execute with minimal supervision.
  • Reliable transportation to work location.
