About the Role:

As a Geriatric Psychiatrist at Interior Health Authority, you will play a critical role in providing high-quality mental health care to seniors in the Thompson-Okanagan region. This is an exciting opportunity to join a dynamic team and make a meaningful difference in the lives of older adults.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide specialized psychiatric care to patients on the 30-bed inpatient unit at Royal Inland Hospital and through consultation-liaison psychiatry.
  • Contribute to the Seniors Mental Health Program at the Kamloops Mental Health & Substance Use centre, offering short-term assessment and treatment for moderate to severe psychiatric diagnoses.
  • Expand access to healthcare for local and rural communities through virtual services and in-person visits.
  • Collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to develop and implement comprehensive care plans for seniors.
  • Participate in educational and research activities, including mentorship opportunities with peers and medical students.

Requirements:

  • Eligible for licensure as a medical practitioner in British Columbia.
  • Board certification in psychiatry or equivalent experience.
  • Strong clinical skills and experience working with older adults.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
