Lead Surveyor / Field Chief

Position Overview:

Integrated ProAction is actively looking for experienced Survey Party Chiefs to contribute to various projects across British Columbia. Reporting directly to the Survey Manager, the ideal candidate will oversee field survey operations in sectors such as construction, pipeline, oil and gas, land development, and legal land surveying. Our company employs cutting-edge technology, including RTK GPS (Trimble), Total Stations, and RTK UAV.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Supervise and execute field survey tasks with the assistance of Survey Assistants.
  • Collaborate with Project Managers to coordinate field survey activities, manage project budgets, timelines, priorities, and survey methodologies.
  • Serve as a representative of the company, engaging directly with client field representatives and landowners.
  • Prepare and deliver field notes, sketches, checklists, and digital data in formats required by Project Managers, Land Surveyors, and Drafting teams.
  • Provide training, support, and mentorship to Survey Assistants under your guidance.
  • Contribute to the formulation and execution of industry best practices, enhancing field processes and procedures, and promoting innovative technology use.
  • Actively engage in and support the enhancement of the Integrated ProAction safety program.

Qualifications:

The successful candidate will possess a degree from a recognized post-secondary program in surveying and geomatics or equivalent experience. Additionally, candidates should have:

  • A minimum of 5 years of experience in a Survey Party Chief role is preferred.
  • Proficient knowledge of survey equipment and software, including GPS and Total Stations.
  • Familiarity with Trimble equipment and software, as well as line locating, is advantageous.
  • Strong problem-solving abilities in field settings.
  • Experience in pipeline construction surveying is a plus.
  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written, with the ability to produce clear and accurate field notes.
  • A talent for developing, motivating, and mentoring junior survey staff while fostering a collaborative team environment.
  • A proven track record of delivering projects within budget and on schedule.
  • Experience operating ATVs/UTVs and snowmobiles is beneficial.
  • A valid driver's license and a clean driver's abstract.
  • Completion of training and valid certifications in First Aid, H2S, CSTS/PSTS safety training, locates, TMEP, and/or CGL orientations is preferred.
  • This position is safety-sensitive and is subject to pre-access drug and alcohol testing in accordance with internal and client policies.

Candidates must have residency status in Canada and be legally authorized to work in British Columbia/Canada to be considered.

Required Experience:

  • Surveying / Survey Party Chief 5+ years preferred, or a combination of education (certificate/diploma/degree in geomatics or engineering) and relevant work experience.
