Job Summary

We are seeking a highly skilled Environmental Planner/Engineer to join our team at Hydro One Networks Inc. This is a challenging and rewarding role that requires a strong understanding of environmental planning, coordination, and conducting environmental assessments and field planning and monitoring on linear infrastructure projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Provide key environmental support and contribute to necessary environmental tasks and deliverables throughout the project life cycle.
  • Execute or support all aspects of the Environmental Assessment (EA), including retaining and managing environmental consultants, project notices, and enhanced engagement planning and execution.
  • Participate in Community Open Houses and address concerns and inquiries from various interest groups.
  • Support the completion of a clear, well-written Environmental Assessment Report and related documentation.
  • Track environmental work plans, budget estimates, and schedules.
  • Conduct site visits and monitor environmental aspects of stations and lines capital projects in the field.
  • Prepare and review Environmental Due Diligence Reports, Environmental Protection Plans/Requirements Documents, and permitting and monitoring in support of new electrical infrastructure projects.
  • Review Contractor Environmental Management Plans.
  • Document, organize, and file project information appropriately within existing systems.
  • Provide guidance and assistance to project and asset managers and construction personnel regarding environmental aspects, applicable legislation, and guidelines.
Requirements
  • Four-year university degree in environmental studies, planning, natural sciences, or a related field.
  • Knowledge and experience in environmental planning, coordinating, and conducting environmental assessments and field planning and monitoring on linear infrastructure projects.
  • Over six years of relevant work experience in environmental planning, natural heritage, cultural heritage/archaeology, permitting, contract management, and monitoring.
  • Strong understanding of environmental issues and legislative requirements.
  • Ability to tender and monitor environmental consultant contracts.
  • Valid Ontario driver's license.
  • Strong technical writing and communication skills.
  • Ability to work on multiple projects with strong organizational and time management skills.
  • Proficiency in written and spoken English to communicate effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
Work Environment

This position will require travel throughout Ontario, sometimes requiring overnight stays. You will be expected to work full-time (7 hours a day), 5 days a week, with the exception of travel required for your projects.
