Windsor, Ontario, Canada Cleveland Cliffs Full time

Ferrous Processing and Trading, a subsidiary of Cleveland-Cliffs Inc., is seeking a skilled Heavy Equipment Operator to join their team at the Windsor, ON location. As a Heavy Equipment Operator, you will be responsible for the processing of scrap metals using various tools and equipment, including crawlers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Ensure adherence to safety standards, including the use of personal protective equipment (PPE), and maintain a clean and safe work environment.
  • Operate and maintain heavy equipment, including wheeled crawlers, pedestal crawlers, and other machinery from various manufacturers.
  • Load and unload materials from storage, production areas, docks, delivery vehicles, staging areas, or containers using equipment such as magnets and grapples.
  • Sort and separate high-grade metals from non-conforming materials.
  • Perform daily inspections on equipment and identify scrap metal, including its grade and type.
  • Assist mechanics in the maintenance of equipment and interact with customers or drivers to direct or assist them.

Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • High School Diploma/GED or 1+ years of heavy equipment operator experience.
  • Ability to read, write, and perform basic math.
  • Good communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Ability to maintain accurate records and follow oral and written communication.
  • Ability to climb ladders or steps to reach objects and lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Ability to work in an environment with dust, dirt, vibrations, extreme climate, and weather changes.
