Position Overview:

Reporting directly to the Vice President of Operations & Strategic Initiatives, the City Operations Director for Toronto will oversee the formulation, implementation, and achievement of innovative projects at Just Eat Takeaway.

The ideal candidate will collaborate across various functions with a dedicated 'city team' of subject matter experts from all sectors of the organization. As the leader of this team, the City Operations Director will be tasked with establishing daily, weekly, monthly, and quarterly goals, guiding the team from concept to execution, and ultimately championing the team to facilitate rapid, impactful experiments from inception to full-scale implementation to achieve desired outcomes.

This individual should possess a natural curiosity, an entrepreneurial spirit, and a passion for data analysis, demonstrating the ability to make informed decisions swiftly in a collaborative environment. They view setbacks as learning opportunities and actively seek to test assumptions to quickly determine effective strategies. A growth-oriented mindset and a relentless drive for success are essential.

Key Responsibilities:

The role encompasses:

  • Strategic Visioning: Develop and own the strategic roadmap for the city.
  • Operational Implementation: Execute strategies with tailored solutions that are specific, detailed, and, where feasible, scalable and repeatable. Foster a culture of continuous improvement to achieve incremental enhancements across the city.
  • Performance Analysis: Monitor and evaluate key performance indicators (KPIs) and service level agreements (SLAs) specific to the city, assessing the effectiveness of initiatives and identifying opportunities for enhancement.
  • Supply Chain Management: Ensure optimal supply within the city, analyze competitor supply dynamics, manage a local pipeline, and proactively address potential high-risk churn.
  • Community Engagement: Tailor local marketing efforts to align with the preferences and needs of the city's residents.
  • Innovative Experimentation: Conduct tests, scale successful insights, and explore various pathways to build a competitive business.

Qualifications for Success:

  • A minimum of 8-10 years of experience, including ownership of profit and loss (P&L) responsibilities and team leadership (direct or indirect).
  • Proven experience in crafting and executing strategic initiatives, managing the entire lifecycle from conception to implementation.
  • A strategic thinker with a comprehensive perspective, capable of understanding and integrating complex issues within the broader organizational and market context.
  • A relationship-oriented approach, with a demonstrated ability to cultivate and sustain strong, productive relationships across all organizational levels.
  • Experience in a matrixed, cross-functional organizational structure.
  • Outstanding communication skills, with the ability to simplify complex concepts into clear, persuasive narratives that facilitate decision-making and strategic alignment.
