WAGE RATE: $39.07 – $56.00
The Registered Nurse (RN) plays a pivotal role within the Mental Health and Addiction Services team, reporting directly to the Manager. This position is dedicated to providing support to the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) in the South Bruce and Grey Bruce regions. The RN will be integrated within an OPP detachment and will collaborate with uniformed officers to facilitate de-escalation, community referrals, and the appropriate transition to acute care when necessary, ensuring favorable outcomes for individuals in crisis.
Responsibilities include engaging in live calls with police, providing follow-up support to individuals and their families, and assisting with system navigation and service coordination. The RN will also support short-term case management services.
This role requires shift work, including days and evenings, and involves travel within the Grey and Bruce Counties catchment area, either in a personal vehicle or accompanying police officers.
Skills/Abilities/Qualifications
Required
Current registration with the Ontario College of Nurses as a Registered Nurse Certification from the Canadian Nurses Association in Psychiatry and Mental Health Nursing A minimum of 5 years of recent experience in community settings with individuals facing significant mental health challenges and substance use disorders Ability to obtain Level 4 Security Clearance (OPP) Comprehensive knowledge of community resources available in Grey and Bruce Counties Familiarity with various crisis prevention and intervention strategies, including safety planning and risk assessment Proficient computer skills Strong analytical and organizational skills, with a proven ability to manage confidential information with discretion Up-to-date training and certifications Valid Ontario Class 'G' driver's license and reliable transportation Capacity to work effectively in a team environment Experience in law enforcement or corrections is an asset Bilingualism in both official languages is an asset Flexibility to work all shifts Recent positive performance and attendance record Commitment to Brightshores' 'CARE' Behaviours (Collaboration, Accountability, Respect, Excellence) and 'LEAD' Competencies (Lead by example, Empower, Achieve results, Develop others), ensuring a safe workplace free from violence and harassment Advocacy for a culture of patient safety, demonstrating an understanding of how departmental services contribute to overall patient safety at Brightshores.-
