About the Role

The Login Clerk and Sample Receiving Coordinator will be responsible for performing duties in the sample receiving, logistics, and administration areas of the client services department.

Key Responsibilities

  • Welcome clients and couriers in the sample receiving area.
  • Ensure the sample receiving area is clean, organized, and presentable at all times.
  • Oversee work and workflow.
  • Assist in CAR investigations.
  • Receive samples and coolers.
  • Unpack and layout all samples from each submission in the order of the submission.
  • Label verification.
  • Discarding processed samples.
  • Record submission temperatures and condition on delivery and sign off on date and time of receipt.
  • Assess each submission upon receipt and identify and communicate any rush work, short holding time analyses, and/or microbiological analyses to the log-in staff.
  • Inspect samples for any non-conformances or sample integrity issues.
  • Check that samples have been preserved appropriately.
  • Train Login, Sample Layout, and Logistics staff as required.
  • Ensure that samples requiring analyses that are not tested in-house have the required paperwork and are placed in the sublet cooler in the shipping department.
  • Ensure that sample labels are accurate, checked, and that Chain of Custody forms and client communications are scanned into the LIMS system.
  • Determine if any discrepancies with COC and samples when received.
  • Login and data entry of client samples and information into LIMS system.
  • Use correct methods in accordance with established procedures and schedules while ensuring analytical quality.
  • Observe established safety regulations and comply with all ALS health and safety policies and procedures.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Demonstrated time management skills.
  • Excellent attention to detail.
  • Ability to work under pressure.
  • Organized, detailed-oriented, and able to work independently.
  • Excellent customer service skills required.
  • Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook) and computer basics.

Qualifications

  • Grade 12 High School Diploma.
  • Administrative background.
  • Science background an asset.

Physical Demands

  • Manual dexterity to perform intricate and/or repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to sit at a desk and do general office work, which includes periodic sedentary responsibilities.
  • Ability to stand for up to a full shift.
  • Lift up to 50 lbs and carry for short distances.
  • You may be exposed to unpleasant odors.
