Senior Tailings Process Engineer

Hatch is seeking a highly motivated Senior Tailings Process Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, ON, Canada. As a key member of our tailings management practice group, you will work closely with our process teams and clients to deliver integrated tailings solutions in the North American market.

Key Responsibilities:
  1. Provide technical leadership and support to our process teams and clients on tailings management projects.
  2. Develop and manage proposals, scoping documents, and basic engineering studies for tailings projects.
  3. Collaborate with our team to select and develop tailings dewatering technologies.
  4. Mentor junior staff and foster a culture of continuous learning and professional development.
  5. Review and provide feedback on technical designs prepared by junior/intermediate engineers.
Qualifications and Experience:
  1. 10 to 15 years of experience in tailings dewatering, separation, and pumping design for precious and base metals, battery materials, ferrous, and non-ferrous.
  2. Proven experience in developing process design criteria, mass balances, and process flowsheets for dewatering.
  3. Strong technical skills in tailings filter type selection and sizing, thickeners, pump sizing, and related technologies.
  4. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  5. Proficient in MS Office suite of tools, including Excel, Word, PowerPoint, and MS Project.
  6. Working knowledge of the latest worldwide developments in tailings management related to the Global Tailings Standard on Tailings Management (GISTM).
  7. Ability to travel internationally for business, with a focus on North America (Canada, USA, and Mexico).
