Position Overview
The role involves providing academic support within the Creative Industries sector at Toronto Metropolitan University. The selected candidate will engage in various educational activities aimed at enhancing student learning and success.
Key Responsibilities
- Lecture Attendance: 36 hours per term dedicated to attending lectures.
- Office Hours: 12 hours per term allocated for holding office hours to assist students.
- Student Consultation: 12 hours per term for consulting with students, including virtual consultations.
- Grading Assistance: 36 hours per term for aiding in the evaluation of tests, lab assignments, essays, and term papers, along with proctoring exams.
- Collaboration: 12 hours per term for conferring with the Supervising Instructor and participating in mandatory training sessions.
- Employer Orientation: 4 hours per term for attending workshops and training provided by the employer.
- Invigilation Duties: 8 hours per term for performing invigilation for mid-term or final examinations as necessary.
Total Estimated Work Hours
The actual hours may vary based on qualifications and the determined rate of pay. Employees may work up to a maximum of 130 hours per semester or 390 hours per academic year. There is no guarantee of work, and when not assigned, employees will not receive any compensation or benefits.
Required Qualifications
- Previous performance evaluation as an Assistant at the University (if applicable).
- Must be enrolled in either the first year of a Master's program, second year of a Master's program, or a PhD program. Preference will be given to Doctoral candidates, followed by Master's candidates.
Relevant Experience
Experience in Creative Industries or Human Resources is preferred.
Compensation
- Master’s Degree: $47.06 per hour
- PhD: $50.82 per hour
