Position Summary

As a vital member of the Leadership Team and reporting directly to the Chief Operating Officer, the Director of Distribution and Logistics will play a crucial role in ensuring that all transportation, logistics, and warehousing operations align with business objectives and fulfill customer requirements.

Key Responsibilities

The Director will:

  • Oversee and maintain relationships with transportation partners through regular communication and performance evaluations.
  • Monitor inbound and outbound shipments, negotiate pricing, and manage quotes effectively.
  • Ensure operational efficiency by tracking key performance indicators such as on-time delivery, lead times, and cost performance across various freight modes.
  • Manage cost efficiency by optimizing routes and improving processes continuously.
  • Stay informed about market trends in global transportation to identify potential risks and opportunities.
  • Develop and manage Requests for Quotations (RFQs) to support benchmarking and contract renewals.
  • Ensure compliance with customs regulations and international trade directives.
  • Communicate proactively with internal stakeholders to resolve issues and enhance operational flow.

Distribution Center Management

The Director will ensure the effective and safe operation of all corporate and third-party logistics (3PL) distribution centers by:

  • Maintaining oversight of 3PL partners to ensure they meet contractual obligations.
  • Leading the operational excellence of corporate distribution centers.
  • Driving best practices and continuous improvement initiatives across all locations.
  • Monitoring internal systems that influence distribution processes and ensuring operational metrics are met.
  • Maintaining inventory accuracy through rigorous controls and audits.
  • Ensuring facilities are well-maintained and organized.

Qualifications

  • A degree or diploma in Logistics, Supply Chain Management, Business, or a related field.
  • Over 10 years of experience in transportation and logistics.
  • A minimum of 5 years in a leadership role managing large, multi-site teams.
  • Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
  • Experience in managing external partners and ensuring accountability.
  • Proven track record in driving performance improvements and cost savings.
  • Familiarity with SAP is an asset.
