WARD CLERK, MSICU (2 POSITIONS)
Reporting Structure: Nurse Manager
Employment Type: Permanent Part-Time
The WARD CLERK plays a vital role in ensuring the smooth operation of the Medical Surgical Intensive Care Unit. Key responsibilities include:
- Managing reception duties and providing clerical assistance.
- Organizing and maintaining patient records, both electronic and paper-based.
- Facilitating patient administration tasks, including scheduling appointments and coordinating meetings.
- Overseeing unit administrative functions to promote efficient operations.
- Performing additional duties as required to support the unit's objectives.
Required Qualifications
- Completion of Grade 12 or equivalent.
- A minimum of one year of relevant clerical experience.
- Familiarity with office practices and procedures.
- Proficiency in word processing and spreadsheet software.
- Strong data entry and keyboarding skills.
- Exceptional organizational and time management abilities.
- Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
- Strong verbal and written communication capabilities.
- Good problem-solving skills.
- Ability to produce high-quality work in line with hospital standards.
- Capacity to handle stressful situations effectively and safely.
- Preferred: Completion of a recognized post-secondary secretarial arts program.
- Preferred: Experience in a healthcare setting.
- Preferred: Knowledge of medical terminology.
- Vaccination against COVID-19 and other diseases is a requirement unless exempt for medical reasons.
- Availability for night shifts is necessary.
