Job Summary:

Are you looking for a challenging opportunity to work in a dynamic and global environment? Boart Longyear is seeking a skilled Driller Assistant to join our team in the diamond drilling industry.

Job Responsibilities:

  • Ensure a safe working environment by following established policies, procedures, and best practices.
  • Perform drilling operations and maintenance tasks, including handling rods and drilling tools, collecting and handling samples, and mixing drilling fluids.
  • Conduct basic maintenance of tools and equipment, and perform housekeeping duties.
  • Support drilling operations by carrying out basic measurement and calculations, and completing pre-start checks.
  • May be required to operate non-drilling equipment, such as light or heavy vehicles, cranes, and forklifts.
  • Monitor a safe workplace, maintain workplace safety, and apply risk management processes.
  • Maintain accurate operating records, including daily drill reports and inventory logs.
  • Contribute to and establish effective workplace relationships.
  • Provide training and coaching to other field employees.

Position Qualifications:

  • Valid First Aid Certificate.
  • Sufficient language skills, literacy, and numeracy skills to perform all job-related tasks.
  • Labor background is considered an asset.
  • Exposure to diamond drilling environments and techniques is considered an asset.
  • This position requires the successful candidate to meet the Fitness for Duty program standards.
