Job Title: CASA Teacher - Grade 8-10

We are seeking a qualified and experienced CASA Teacher to join our team at York Region District School Board. The successful candidate will be responsible for teaching and supporting students in grades 8-10 in a CASA program.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Develop and implement lesson plans that cater to the needs of students with varying physical and emotional conditions.
  • Build strong relationships with students, parents, and staff to create a supportive learning environment.
  • Monitor student behavior and apply appropriate interventions to ensure a safe and inclusive classroom.
  • Administer medication as required and develop individualized plans for students with mild-moderate developmental disabilities.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to develop and implement a comprehensive curriculum that meets the needs of all students.
Requirements:
  • Therapeutic Crisis Intervention (TCI) training or experience in trauma-sensitive environments is an asset.
  • Ability to build strong relationships with parents and staff.
  • Experience working with students with special needs.
  • Strong organizational and classroom management skills.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team.
