Job Title: Urban Planning Technician

We are seeking a highly skilled Urban Planning Technician to join our team at the City of Thunder Bay. As an Urban Planning Technician, you will play a key role in supporting the development of urban plans and policies that promote sustainable and livable communities.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Assist in the preparation of urban plans and policies, including conducting research and analyzing data.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders, including community members, developers, and other city departments, to ensure that urban plans and policies meet the needs of the community.
  • Develop and maintain accurate and up-to-date maps and databases to support urban planning efforts.
  • Conduct field surveys and inspections to gather data and information on urban development projects.
  • Prepare and present reports and recommendations to city officials and other stakeholders.
Requirements:
  • Education: Other trades certificate or diploma, Architectural engineering, Civil engineering, general.
  • Experience: 5 years or more.
  • Computer and technology knowledge: Geographic Information System (GIS), AutoCAD, MS Excel, MS Outlook, MS PowerPoint, MS Word, Architectural software programs.
