Laboratory Instructor

We are seeking a highly skilled Laboratory Instructor to join our team at Douglas College. As a Laboratory Instructor, you will be responsible for providing exceptional laboratory instruction, evaluation, and supervision of students in the physics laboratory.
Key Responsibilities- Instruction and Demonstration
- Deliver high-quality laboratory instruction and demonstrations related to college physics courses.
- Develop and implement strategies to facilitate student learning and ensure compliance with safety procedures.
- Evaluation and Assessment
- Evaluate student work and performance in relation to laboratory requirements.
- Assess and assign final laboratory grades.
- Preparation and Maintenance
- Prepare materials for use in the laboratory, subject to the curricula approval of the Physics faculty.
- Maintain, update, and arrange for printing of laboratory manuals.
- Additional Duties
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Education and Experience
- Bachelor of Science in Physics from a recognized post-secondary educational institution or equivalent combination of training and experience.
- Skills and Abilities
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to work independently with minimum direct supervision.
- Proven ability to effectively demonstrate proper laboratory techniques.
- Ability to maintain current knowledge in the field of Physics.
The successful candidate will be required to set up laboratory equipment, which may include lifting, pushing, and pulling up to 40 lbs.
