We are seeking a highly qualified Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon to join our team. As a key member of our Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, you will be responsible for providing clinical, scholarly, and administrative duties, as required.

Position Description

Paediatric Orthopaedic Surgeon

Division of Orthopaedic Surgery, SickKids

The successful candidate will have a subspecialty interest in lower extremity reconstruction, as well as management of paediatric bone tumors. The clinical component of the position will include a substantial commitment to the care of children with lower extremity deformities.

The ideal candidate will have a strong academic background and be able to complement the Division's scholarly productivity. A scholarly focus on research, education, or global health is welcomed. Clinical and scholarly time allocation will be negotiated based upon the candidate's qualifications, scholarly productivity, and academic plan.

The successful candidate will be a recently qualified fellowship-trained surgeon with outstanding potential, or an established surgeon with an international reputation. They will provide effective and collaborative leadership at the hospital, provincial, national, and international level.

Start-up support and mentorship will be provided for the successful candidate. The candidate must be eligible for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Toronto and be eligible for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario.

Responsibilities
  • Provide clinical care to children with lower extremity deformities
  • Contribute to the Division's scholarly productivity through research, education, or global health initiatives
  • Participate in the emergency Orthopaedic call schedule at SickKids
  • Provide effective and collaborative leadership at the hospital, provincial, national, and international level
Requirements
  • MD, MBBS, or equivalent degree
  • Eligibility for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor or higher at the University of Toronto
  • Eligibility for certification with the Royal College of Physicians and Surgeons of Canada and licensure with the College of Physicians and Surgeons of Ontario
  • Recently qualified fellowship-trained surgeon with outstanding potential, or an established surgeon with an international reputation
