Position Overview
Under the supervision of the Charge Technologist or designated authority, the Lead Medical Laboratory Technologist is tasked with overseeing and providing technical support to a specific section within the laboratory. This role may encompass responsibilities in various areas such as Research and Development, Education, Quality Assurance, and Safety Management. The incumbent is expected to uphold a secure working environment in alignment with professional standards and provincial regulations, ensuring adherence to quality assurance protocols and maintaining the standards established by Accreditation bodies.
Experience- A minimum of three years of relevant work experience is preferred.
- Experience in a supervisory capacity is advantageous.
- Graduate from an accredited Medical Laboratory Technology program.
- Successful completion of the CMLTM Prior Learning Assessment process for a specialized discipline may also be considered.
- Preferred advanced academic qualifications (e.g., A.R.T. or B.Sc.).
- Relevant coursework or professional development seminars are preferred.
- Current registration or eligibility for registration with the College of Medical Laboratory Technologists of Manitoba (CMLTM) is required.
- Membership with the Canadian Society for Medical Laboratory Science (CSMLS) is considered an asset.
- Effective communication skills in English, both written and verbal, are essential.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications is required.
- Training in Workplace Health and Safety is preferred.
- Ability to apply technical knowledge for result interpretation, troubleshooting, and method assessment.
- Strong organizational skills to prioritize laboratory duties alongside Senior Technologist responsibilities.
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities.
- Ability to follow detailed oral and written instructions with precision.
- Proficient in analytical skills and capable of working under pressure.
- Commitment to maintaining confidentiality regarding all information pertinent to the position.
- Fluency in both French and English may be required.
- Ability to perform the duties as outlined.
- Availability to work shifts, weekends, and holidays as necessary.
- Participation in standby and callback duties may be required.
- Rotation through various laboratory workstations as needed.
- Exposure to laboratory hazards is inherent to the role.
