We are seeking a compassionate and skilled Bilingual Family Duty Counsel to join our team in Ottawa. This role offers an opportunity to make a tangible difference in the lives of clients navigating complex family law matters.

Primary Responsibilities
  • Deliver comprehensive legal advice and representation to individuals seeking assistance with family law issues, including child custody, support, separation, and domestic violence.
  • Provide clear guidance on court procedures, document preparation, and available legal options.
  • Advocate for clients' rights and interests within the Superior Court of Justice (Unified Family Court) and other relevant tribunals.
  • Collaborate with Legal Aid Workers and students to ensure efficient service delivery and client support.
  • Maintain accurate client files, conflict lists, and records in accordance with legal and ethical standards.
Qualifications
  • Demonstrated experience in family law, child protection law, and court proceedings.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal skills, enabling effective client interaction and advocacy.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities to address complex legal issues.
  • Proficiency in legal research, document drafting, and case management systems.
  • Fluency in both English and French is essential for this role.
