The Operations Coordination Manager plays a pivotal role in enhancing operational efficiency across Defence Construction Canada (DCC) by driving strategic initiatives and addressing corporate risks. This position leads the Operations Coordination Team, promoting effective communication, collaboration, and synergy among the Executive Management Group, corporate departments, and regional offices. The Manager offers technical assistance to national service line directors, oversees financial performance in alignment with corporate standards, and actively communicates corporate values and messages. The incumbent supervises a team of professionals and is responsible for human resources management within the team. Additionally, the Manager oversees certain aspects of DCC's partnerships with Client-Partners, fostering innovative solutions while ensuring the team's focus on quality and timely deliverables.


KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
The duties and responsibilities outlined below are representative but not exhaustive:

  • Support the Executive Management Group in implementing corporate initiatives and programs.
  • Identify and allocate resources for corporate health and safety, security, business management, performance reporting, and risk management.
  • Provide technical assistance to national service line directors.
  • Manage the financial performance of the business unit in accordance with corporate expectations.
  • Facilitate communication of corporate messages to employees and reinforce these messages as necessary.
  • Ensure effective communication among employees, the Executive Management Group, senior leadership, and between the Operations Coordination Team and regional offices, as well as other business units and service lines.
  • Maintain quality standards in line with corporate and Client-Partner expectations.
  • Develop and sustain effective relationships within DCC and with industry stakeholders and Client-Partners.
  • Conduct human resources functions, including coaching, supervising, mentoring, resource planning, and performance management.

SKILLS AND QUALIFICATIONS

  • General and Specific Knowledge: Familiarity with best practices, methods, and trends in business management, financial management, and human resources management.
  • Understanding of project and risk management principles.

Formal Education and Experience:

  • Minimum: A university degree with a minimum of eight years of relevant experience in office management or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Preferred: The above qualifications plus technical knowledge and experience in fields such as engineering, architecture, or environmental management.

ABILITIES

  • Proficient in applicable computer software and operating systems.
  • Ability to apply project and risk management techniques effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong leadership and human resources management capabilities.

DEVELOPMENT AND LEADERSHIP

  • Lead and manage direct reports.
  • Provide functional direction and guidance to team members and other employees.

To pursue a career with Defence Construction Canada (DCC), candidates must be Canadian Citizens or permanent residents of Canada. A minimum reliability security status clearance is required for employment, with some roles necessitating secret security status clearance.


DCC oversees the Personnel Security Clearance process. Typically, to qualify for a 'Reliability' clearance, candidates must provide five years of verifiable background information, while a 'Secret' clearance requires ten years. The clearance process may involve reference inquiries, verification of qualifications, criminal record checks, and credit checks, and may require fingerprints.


It is the candidate's responsibility to ensure they can obtain and maintain the required security clearance for employment with DCC. Failure to do so may result in the withdrawal of a job offer or termination of employment.
