Recognizing the impact of addiction on families, specialized support programs are also provided for loved ones, including children.

About The Role

This position is accountable to the Sullivan Treatment Centre manager for the delivery of Renascent Program services to individuals grappling with addiction to alcohol and/or other substances. The role contributes to Renascent's supportive and collaborative team environment. This part-time position entails weekly shifts on both Saturday and Sunday, along with an additional weekday shift.

Key Responsibilities

  • Conduct screening, assessment, and intake of individuals referred to the program for treatment, evaluating their suitability for our services. This may involve referrals to detoxification facilities prior to admission or to alternative services as necessary.
  • Facilitate systematic, ongoing goal setting with clients, which includes specific planning and the establishment of actionable steps to achieve these goals, in collaboration with the Counselling Team.
  • Regularly assess and monitor clients' progress.
  • Enhance skills through role modeling and general instruction.
  • Deliver structured counseling to individuals and groups regarding specific program materials and related issues.

Qualifications

  • Personal experience with addiction and recovery, along with active participation in a 12-Step program for addiction, is required.
  • A minimum of three years of continuous sobriety is preferred.
  • Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are essential, including the ability to share personal experiences for the benefit of clients.
  • A university degree or college diploma in a social science or health-related field, or equivalent work experience, is required.
  • Completion of coursework for certification as an Addiction Counselor is mandatory.
  • Availability to work on weekends is essential.
