About The Role
This position is accountable to the manager of the Sullivan Treatment Centre for the provision of Renascent Program services to men grappling with addiction to alcohol and/or other substances. The successful candidate will play a vital role in fostering Renascent's supportive and collaborative team environment. This part-time role encompasses scheduled shifts on both Saturday and Sunday, along with an additional weekday shift.
Key Responsibilities
- Conducting screening, assessment, and intake processes for individuals referred to the program, evaluating their suitability for treatment. This may involve directing clients to detox facilities prior to admission or referring them to alternative services as necessary.
- Facilitating systematic and ongoing goal-setting with clients, which includes detailed planning and establishing actionable steps to achieve these goals in collaboration with the Counselling Team.
- Regularly assessing and monitoring client progress.
- Enhancing client skills through role modeling and instructional guidance.
- Delivering structured counseling sessions to individuals and groups, addressing specific program materials and relevant issues.
- Personal experience with addiction and recovery, along with active participation in a 12-Step program, is essential.
- A minimum of three years of continuous sobriety is preferred.
- Strong communication skills, both verbal and written, are crucial, including the ability to share personal experiences to benefit clients.
- A university degree or college diploma in a social science or health-related field, or equivalent work experience, is required.
- Completion of coursework necessary for certification as an Addiction Counselor is mandatory.
- Availability to work on weekends is essential.
