About the Role:

The Autism Support Associate will play a vital role in ensuring that individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) receive high-quality support that enhances their quality of life. This position requires a strong understanding of ASD and the ability to provide personalized support to meet the unique needs of each individual.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Act as the primary liaison with family, medical, educational, and community contacts to ensure seamless support.
  • Provide coaching and support in areas such as social skills, communication, and leisure activities to promote independence and confidence.
  • Identify and address barriers that impact the achievement of personal outcomes, ensuring that each individual's needs are met.
  • Administer medication as per procedure and follow established protocols for crisis situations.
  • Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, supports, and community members to foster a collaborative environment.
  • Provide leadership and coaching to other employees to continuously improve the quality of service and work environment.
Requirements:
  • Completion of a Human Services Diploma or equivalent, or a Personal Support Worker certificate with 1 year of related experience.
  • Strong understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and its unique support requirements.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to work effectively in a team.
  • Ability to physically support adults with Autism Spectrum Disorder and complete required certifications, such as Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) and First Aid/CPR.
  • Valid Driver's License and access to a reliable vehicle, with proof of third-party liability insurance coverage.
