As a key member of our team at Kerry's Place Autism Services, the Autism Support Associate will play a vital role in ensuring that individuals with Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) receive high-quality support that enhances their quality of life.
Key Responsibilities:- Act as the primary liaison with family, medical, educational, and community contacts to ensure seamless support.
- Provide coaching and support in areas such as social skills, communication, and leisure activities to promote independence and confidence.
- Identify and address barriers that impact an individual's quality of life, ensuring that Personal Outcomes are met.
- Administer medication as per established procedures.
- Follow established Behavioural and Crisis Protocols to ensure the safety and well-being of individuals.
- Develop and maintain positive relationships with families, support staff, and community members to foster a collaborative environment.
- Provide leadership and coaching to colleagues to continuously improve service quality and work environment.
- Completion of a Human Services Diploma or equivalent, or a Personal Support Worker certificate with 1 year of related experience, preferably supporting individuals with ASD.
- Or, completion of Ontario Secondary School (or equivalent) and 5 years of related experience, preferably supporting individuals with ASD.
- Solid understanding of Autism Spectrum Disorder and its unique support requirements.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work effectively in a team.
- Ability to physically support adults with ASD.
- Ability to complete Non-Violent Crisis Intervention (NVCI) certification, First Aid/CPR, and perform required physical techniques.
- Valid Driver's License with a minimum G2 and access to a reliable vehicle.
- Proof of third-party liability insurance coverage.
