Income Assistance First Nations Youth Employment Program

About This Opportunity
Seabird Island Band is proud to offer a new pilot program called the Income Assistance First Nations Youth Employment Strategy (IAFNYES). The goal of this strategy is to support on-reserve First Nations youth between the ages of 19 and 30 who are receiving ISC's Income Assistance with a transition to the workforce, or return to school. This will be achieved through participation in mentored work placements while receiving case management supports.
Program Details
This program will run for 23 weeks, with participants working 30 hours per week, not exceeding 720 hours per participant.

Your Responsibilities
- Maintain accurate records of your development and progress.
- Accept delegation and follow assigned tasks.
- Work independently when required.
- Follow up on tasks assigned by your Mentor.
- Exercise professional boundaries and communicate any conflicts of interest that may arise during the partnership.
- Set goals and strive to achieve them.
- Be willing to learn, grow, and ask appropriate questions.
- Maintain confidentiality and integrity; do not discuss or share information outside of the relationship.
- Perform other duties as assigned by your Supervisor/Manager, Director, or the CAO.
Your Qualifications
- Must be between the ages of 19 and 30.
- Must be an on-reserve Income Assistance client within one of Seabird Island's pre-employment supports program (PESP) communities.
- Possess a strong desire to learn and develop new skills.
- Demonstrate excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
