Estimator Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Estimator to join our team at Summa Architectural & Structural Metal Inc. as a key member of our estimating department.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Prepare detailed estimates of labour and material costs for construction projects
  • Operate CADD and other computer software systems to create accurate estimates
  • Prepare estimates for general expenses and overheads, and provide economic feasibility studies and preliminary estimates for proposed projects
  • Collaborate with engineers, architects, owners, contractors, and subcontractors to ensure accurate cost estimates and timely project completion
  • Monitor and adjust contract expenditures, and prepare and maintain a directory of supplies and trade contractors
  • Read and interpret blueprints, maps, drawings, and specifications to ensure accurate estimates
Requirements:
  • 1-2 years of experience in estimating or a related field
  • Strong knowledge of construction costs, materials, and labour
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet deadlines
