Nova Scotia Health Authority is seeking a dedicated and compassionate Mental Health Social Worker to join our team in providing specialized care to children and adolescents.
Reporting to the Manager of Child and Adolescent Services, Mental Health and Addictions, you will play a vital role in assessing and treating young individuals experiencing mental health challenges or concurrent disorders. This multi-disciplinary service encompasses outpatient clinics, schools, and satellite locations, offering a range of therapeutic approaches including individual, family, and group therapy.
As a key member of our team, your responsibilities will include:
- Conducting comprehensive assessments to identify the unique needs of each child and adolescent.
- Developing and implementing individualized treatment plans based on evidence-based practices such as Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT).
- Providing direct therapy services to children, adolescents, and their families in a supportive and therapeutic environment.
- Collaborating with other healthcare professionals, including psychologists, psychiatrists, and addiction therapists, to ensure holistic care.
- Supervising case managers and behavioral interventionists to enhance service delivery.
- Educating clients, families, and community partners on mental health topics through presentations and workshops.
The ideal candidate possesses:
- A Master's degree in Social Work with a specialization in clinical or mental health.
- Registration with the Nova Scotia College of Social Work.
- Experience working with children and adolescents experiencing mental health challenges.
- Strong clinical skills, including assessment, diagnosis, and treatment planning.
- Excellent communication, interpersonal, and problem-solving abilities.
