About the Role

Smith-Peat Roofing and Sheet Metal Ltd. is seeking a skilled Roofing Assistant to join our team. As a Roofing Assistant, you will play a crucial role in supporting our roofing crew in various construction projects.

Key Responsibilities
  • Loading and Unloading Materials: Assist in loading and unloading construction materials, such as lumber, roofing materials, and tools, from trucks and equipment.
  • Erecting and Dismantling Forms and Scaffolding: Help in setting up and taking down concrete forms, scaffolding, ramps, catwalks, shoring, and barricades as required for construction projects.
  • Assisting in Framing and Roofing: Assist in framing houses, erecting walls, and building roofs under the supervision of experienced roofers.
  • Removing Debris and Waste: Remove rubble and other debris from construction sites, ensuring a safe and clean working environment.
  • Maintaining Equipment: Tend to or feed machines or equipment used in construction, ensuring they are in good working condition.
Work Environment and Conditions
  • Physical Demands: The role requires physical stamina, as you will be working outdoors in various weather conditions, at heights, and handling heavy loads.
  • Repetitive Tasks: You will perform repetitive tasks, such as loading and unloading materials, and assisting in construction activities.
  • Handling Heavy Loads: You will be required to handle heavy loads, including construction materials and equipment.
