JOB OVERVIEW

We are seeking a Customs Classification Analyst to enhance our organization’s efforts in international trade compliance. This role involves delivering precise product classifications in a dynamic environment while implementing effective controls and corrective measures to uphold exemplary compliance standards.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Assist in the classification of BRP products across various regions including North America, EMEA, LATAM, and APAC.
  • Provide essential technical information to facilitate government audits and official inquiries globally.
  • Generate documentation to aid strategic decision-making among BRP stakeholders and ensure adherence to regulatory frameworks.
  • Define, assess, and oversee product and material classifications provided by our business partners.
  • Establish the BRP classification for finished goods, components, parts, and raw materials.
  • Engage in the documentation process to respond to customs authority requests such as CF28 and CF29 from CBP, as well as from CBSA, SAT, and other global entities.
  • Support strategic classification directives to ensure compliance with ADD/CVD regulations based on classification, origin, and ongoing cases.
  • Prepare technical documentation for Tariff Classification to support BRP analysis, considering various end uses, functionalities, and technical specifications.
  • Influence and assist in regional compliance strategies for classification.
  • Address multiple compliance factors including origin determination, applicable rules of origin for free trade benefits, management of surtaxes, classification updates, and more.

IDEAL CANDIDATE PROFILE:

  • A bachelor’s degree in business, international commerce, or a related field.
  • Strong understanding and expertise in customs, distribution, and manufacturing processes.
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in customs brokerage with a focus on classification.
  • Proficient technical skills in Canadian and US Customs Compliance, particularly in HS Classification; knowledge of Mexican regulations is a plus.
  • A current Canadian CCS (Certified Customs Specialist) designation is advantageous.
  • Engineering knowledge or familiarity, especially in the automotive and vehicle sectors, is beneficial.
  • Excellent grasp of trade compliance terminology.
  • Self-driven with a high degree of autonomy.
  • Ability to manage stress and handle high-volume requests effectively.
  • Strong computer skills, particularly in data extraction across various software platforms; proficiency in Excel is essential, while Power BI knowledge is an asset.
  • Familiarity with SAP-GTS is a plus.
  • Bilingual in French and English; Spanish proficiency is an asset.
