The Mental Health Specialist will be responsible for delivering and overseeing services tailored to individuals experiencing substantial mental health challenges. This role requires the ability to operate autonomously as well as collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, engaging effectively with various service providers.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct comprehensive assessments and provide brief therapeutic interventions grounded in evidence-based practices, including Solution-Focused and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
  • Participate in the training and development of staff, students, and the broader community regarding mental health awareness and recovery principles.
  • Initially assigned to Withdrawal Management Services, with the flexibility to transition to other outpatient mental health programs as necessary.

Qualifications:

For MSW:

  • Master's degree in Social Work with current membership in the Ontario College of Social Workers and Social Service Workers (OCSWSSW).

For MHC-M:

  • Master's degree in Nursing, Social Work, Psychology, or a related health or social science discipline.
  • Active registration with the College of Registered Psychotherapists of Ontario (CRPO).

Common Requirements:

  • A minimum of 5 years of recent experience working with individuals facing significant mental health issues.
  • Current C.P.I. training and basic C.P.R. certification.
  • Strong understanding of Recovery Principles and the Mental Health Act, along with familiarity with DSM-V.
  • Proficient in various therapeutic modalities, including individual and group therapies, Brief Solution-Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Single Session Therapy, and Dialectical Behavior Therapy.
  • Possess reliable transportation for travel as required.
  • Demonstrated analytical and organizational skills, with a commitment to maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
  • Ability to work effectively within a team environment and accommodate flexible shift schedules.

  • Advocate for patient safety and contribute to a culture that prioritizes the well-being of clients.
