About the Opportunity

We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Pharmacist to join our team at Nova Scotia Health and IWK Health. As a Primary Health Care Pharmacist, you will play a vital role in providing patient-centered care that optimizes safe, effective, and appropriate drug therapy.

Under the supervision of the Manager of Primary Health Care, you will work collaboratively with an interprofessional group of healthcare providers to provide comprehensive care to patients. Your responsibilities will include:

  • Providing patient education and making therapeutic recommendations to the team
  • Participating in interprofessional medical rounds and medication reconciliation
  • Identifying and resolving drug-related problems
  • Contributing to the effective and efficient attainment of the goals and objectives of Nova Scotia Health Pharmacy Services

You will also be responsible for ensuring safe and effective drug therapy by participating in and overseeing drug distribution systems (inpatient and outpatient).

About You

We are looking for a candidate with:

  • Graduation from an accredited university program in Pharmacy
  • Completion of a Pharmacy Residency Program preferred
  • Licensed to practice Pharmacy in the Province of Nova Scotia
  • Minimum two years' experience in clinical practice in a hospital pharmacy setting preferred
  • Strong knowledge of drugs and therapeutics
  • Effective oral and written communication skills
  • Ability to make accurate and timely recommendations regarding safe and cost-effective use of drugs
  • Competencies in other languages an asset, French preferred

Hours
  • Permanent part-time position; 37.5 hours bi-weekly
  • Shifts include days, nights and weekends (or other specific hours of shifts)
  • Travel to various sites may be required
Compensation and Benefits

$53.24 Hourly

Successful candidates may be eligible for our benefits package which includes health, dental, travel, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage as well as a defined benefit pension plan.
