SimpsonWigle LAW LLP is a dynamic and innovative law firm with a commitment to excellence, currently seeking an experienced Insolvency and Restructuring Associate. This role is based in Burlington and requires a professional with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.

The successful candidate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:

  1. Providing strategic legal counsel to financial institutions and small to medium-sized enterprises, including representation of creditors, receivers, and trustees in various legal proceedings and transactions;
  2. Managing Collection and Power of Sale processes;
  3. Delivering legal assessments regarding risk management and asset protection strategies;
  4. Offering guidance on proposals, informal workouts, priority disputes, fraudulent transactions, reorganizations, asset recovery, and receiverships;
  5. Advising institutional lenders, such as banks and credit unions, on all aspects of recovery for both secured and unsecured loans.

Qualifications and Experience Required:

  1. Outstanding academic record from a prestigious law school;
  2. 5 to 8 years of specialized experience in Insolvency and Restructuring;
  3. Strong analytical, drafting, advocacy, research, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal;
  4. Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
  5. Comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and Practice Directions;
  6. Familiarity with the Commercial List;
  7. Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
