SimpsonWigle LAW LLP is a dynamic and innovative law firm with a commitment to excellence, currently seeking an experienced Insolvency and Restructuring Associate. This role is based in Burlington and requires a professional with 5 to 8 years of relevant experience.
The successful candidate will undertake a variety of responsibilities, including:
- Providing strategic legal counsel to financial institutions and small to medium-sized enterprises, including representation of creditors, receivers, and trustees in various legal proceedings and transactions;
- Managing Collection and Power of Sale processes;
- Delivering legal assessments regarding risk management and asset protection strategies;
- Offering guidance on proposals, informal workouts, priority disputes, fraudulent transactions, reorganizations, asset recovery, and receiverships;
- Advising institutional lenders, such as banks and credit unions, on all aspects of recovery for both secured and unsecured loans.
Qualifications and Experience Required:
- Outstanding academic record from a prestigious law school;
- 5 to 8 years of specialized experience in Insolvency and Restructuring;
- Strong analytical, drafting, advocacy, research, organizational, and communication skills, both written and verbal;
- Meticulous attention to detail and a commitment to accuracy;
- Comprehensive understanding of the Ontario Rules of Civil Procedure and Practice Directions;
- Familiarity with the Commercial List;
- Ability to work collaboratively within a team as well as independently.
