Senior Financial Analyst

We are seeking a highly skilled Senior Financial Analyst to join our team at the Niagara Catholic District School Board. As a key member of our finance department, you will play a critical role in supporting the development and implementation of our financial strategies.
Key Responsibilities:- Assist with the preparation of financial reports, including month-end close and budget development for Estimates and Revised Estimates.
- Collaborate with Accounting Department staff to prepare 7-month and year-end reporting requirements.
- Support the completion of the Board's financial statements and Education Finance Information System (EFIS).
- Work with stakeholders to determine annual needs and feasibility of requests.
- Ensure budget lines and personnel data are accurate by analyzing YTD actuals against budgeted amounts.
- Prepare and review journal entries for month end, 7-month and year-end reporting.
- Support the preparation of month-end, 7-month and year-end reporting processes.
- Ensure appropriate accounting treatment of tangible capital assets in compliance with Ministry of Education guidelines and Public Sector Accounting Standards.
- Liaise with external auditors, all levels of management, and Ministry staff.
- A four-year University Degree in Accounting or a related field.
- Three to five years of progressive accounting experience, preferably in a school board environment.
- Chartered Professional Accountant designation (CPA, CPA-CA, CPA-CMA, CPA-CGA) or actively working towards completion of designation.
- Member in good standing with the Chartered Professional Accountants of Ontario (CPA Ontario).
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office - Excel, Word.
- Knowledge of Microsoft NAV Dynamics/Microsoft Dynamics 365.
- Previous experience with Budgeting software.
- Comprehensive understanding of Public Sector Accounting Standards.
- Strong analytical and interpersonal skills.
- Excellent organization and time management skills.
This is a full-time, permanent position with a competitive salary range of $ - $93,208.21 per annum. We offer a comprehensive benefits package, including health, dental, and vision coverage, as well as a pension plan and employee assistance program.
