About the Role:

The Production Labourer will be responsible for assisting in various activities throughout the manufacturing plant, including operating a forklift, equipment operation, and performing quality checks.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Learn and assist in a variety of activities throughout the manufacturing plant.
  • Perform all duties safely and efficiently following company safety standards.
  • Make equipment and process adjustments to ensure proper specifications for the finished product are met.
  • Perform quality checks and record results in production and quality computer database.
  • Change settings on equipment during changeovers.
  • Perform some routine cleaning, inspecting, and minor maintenance on equipment.

Requirements:

  • Minimum grade 12 education and some post-secondary education preferred.
  • Must be a team and customer service-oriented individual.
  • Perform all duties safely and efficiently and follow all company safety standards.
  • Able to recognize unsafe conditions or hazards in the work area.
  • Able to work 8 or 12-hour rotating shifts, including days, evenings, nights, and weekends.
  • Able to maintain a high standard for housekeeping in the work area.
  • Forklift or mobile equipment experience a plus. Training provided.
  • Able to learn to operate automated plant manufacturing equipment and recognize deviations from standard operating parameters.
  • Able to use Windows computers and perform tests on manufactured products according to standard test methods using measurement devices such as tape measures and micrometers.
  • Must be comfortable with completing written production forms.
  • Must be able to interact, communicate, and work effectively and professionally with all employees and management staff in a team-oriented environment.
  • Experience with TPM, WCM, Lean manufacturing, and 5S is an asset.

Physical Demands:

  • Must be able to work in an industrial manufacturing environment.
  • Job includes tasks that require walking, bending, twisting, gripping, stair and ladder climbing, entering confined spaces, navigating rough terrain, and occasional lifting.
  • Must be capable of wearing personal protective equipment necessary to comply with government and company safety standards.
