Job Summary
We are seeking a highly skilled Bookkeeping Specialist to join our team. The successful candidate will be responsible for:
- Entry and reconciliation of monthly and quarterly bookkeeping assignments, including payables, receivables, bank statements, credit card statements, and journal entries.
- Accounting basics, including preparation and analysis of general ledgers and monthly financial statements, calculation of fixed assets and depreciation, and preparation of other statistical, financial, and accounting reports.
- Preparation and filing of monthly and quarterly tax remittances, including GST/HST, source deductions, EHT, WSIB, etc.
- Preparation and assembly of personal tax returns.
- Payroll calculations and remittances for clients, including annual T4 preparation and reporting.
Requirements
The ideal candidate will have:
- Certified Professional Bookkeeper, completion of Accounting Diploma or QuickBooks Online Pro Advisory designation would be an asset.
- Strong bookkeeping and payroll technical skills.
- Related work experience in public accounting or with a small to medium-sized business would be an asset.
- High proficiency in MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams). Technical competencies to execute work at the direction received up front from other experienced staff using Caseware/Caseview, TaxPrep, and/or any other tax preparation software. Any prior experience with these programs is an asset.
- Willingness to learn and adapt to technological changes.
- Excellent attention to detail, interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills.
- Sound judgment regarding confidential information and sensitive matters.
- Professional manner, strong work ethic, and ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
- Strong understanding of a client-focused fast-paced work environment, including related deadlines, and the ability to work to meet those deadlines.
- The ability to accept feedback and apply feedback to future engagements.
