Humber River Health is seeking a highly skilled Pathology Assistant II to join our dynamic Laboratory Services team. As a key member of our team, you will play a critical role in delivering timely and accurate test results, improving patient outcomes, and contributing to our mission of providing high-quality patient care.
Key Responsibilities:- Preparation of Human Tissue Surgical Specimens: Prepare human tissue surgical specimens for histological examination by a pathologist, including gross description and dissection of specimens.
- Assistance with Autopsies: Assist pathologists in performing human postmortem examinations (autopsies) and process quick sections as required.
- Special Procedures and Protocols: Ensure special procedures and protocols are followed by staff involved in specimen procurement.
- Anatomic Pathology Lectures: Assist in the organization and coordination of anatomic pathology lectures, including surgical and autopsy rounds.
- Administrative Duties: Maintain anatomic/surgical pathology protocols, reports, and data, including photographic and microscopic slides, and perform administrative, budgetary, supervisory, teaching, and other duties as assigned.
- Candidate Requirements: Candidate for or holding a Canadian Association of Pathologists (CAP) certification is an asset.
- Education and Experience: Masters of Science degree in a Pathologist Assistant Program is an asset. Experience as a Pathology Assistant is preferred, and experience in adult and neonatal autopsy is an asset.
- Skills and Abilities: Effective communication skills, excellent interpersonal, organizational, teamwork, and customer service skills are required. Computer skills, knowledge of Meditech system is an asset.
