Job Title: Carpenter

We are seeking a skilled Carpenter to join our team at Take Flight Contracting Ltd.

Job Summary:

The Carpenter will be responsible for reading blueprints, preparing layouts, and measuring, cutting, shaping, assembling, and joining materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials. The successful candidate will also be responsible for building foundations, installing floor beams, laying subflooring, erecting walls and roof systems, fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware, and surveying building locations and levels.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Read blueprints, drawings, and sketches to determine work requirements
  • Prepare layouts in conformance to building codes, using measuring tools
  • Measure, cut, shape, assemble, and join materials made of wood, wood substitutes, lightweight steel, and other materials
  • Build foundations, install floor beams, lay subflooring, and erect walls and roof systems
  • Fitting and installing windows, doors, stairs, mouldings, and hardware
  • Survey building locations and levels
  • Estimate costs and materials
Work Environment:

The Carpenter will work in a construction environment, which may involve working at heights, in noisy conditions, and outdoors.

Requirements:
  • 7 months to less than 1 year of experience
  • No degree, certificate, or diploma required
  • Ability to work at heights, in noisy conditions, and outdoors
