POSITION SUMMARY: CHILD CARE PROGRAM MANAGER

The Child Care Program Manager plays a pivotal role in the development and enhancement of child care programs within the educational framework. Reporting directly to the Assistant Superintendent, this position is dedicated to overseeing the existing child care facilities and spearheading the establishment of new child care environments on school properties. The Manager serves as a vital link between the school district and the community, focusing on the promotion, planning, and management of child care services.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:


• Drive and support initiatives related to child care within the school district.


• Forge partnerships with community organizations to bolster early learning efforts.


• Oversee data collection projects associated with early childhood development instruments.


• Conduct assessments to gauge interest in child care programming across schools.


• Align district resources to facilitate the integration of child care into the educational landscape.


• Provide professional development opportunities for early childhood educators in line with provincial frameworks.


• Assist families and child care providers in accessing provincial funding opportunities.


• Identify and pursue funding opportunities for early learning and child care initiatives.


• Collaborate with licensing authorities to ensure compliance with regulatory standards.


• Work alongside child care service providers and educational staff to maintain high-quality child care programs.


• Evaluate and select child care service providers.


• Offer expert guidance in the planning of new child care facilities.


• Manage operations and contracts related to child care services.


• Recruit, train, mentor, and assess staff performance effectively.


• Support the Assistant Superintendent in compiling necessary reports for district management.


• Research and analyze various resources to inform program development and operational procedures.


• Collaborate with educational staff on child care space and programming initiatives.


• Undertake additional responsibilities as required.

QUALIFICATIONS:


• A university degree with a focus on Education or Business, or a comparable combination of education and experience.


• At least three years of experience in child care or a related field; current Early Childhood Education certification is preferred.


• Proven experience in managing teams and budgets.


• Comprehensive knowledge of early childhood education and school-age child care practices.


• A valid driver's license and access to a personal vehicle.


• Familiarity with licensing agencies and their reporting requirements.


• In-depth understanding of funding initiatives related to child care.


• Knowledge of the provincial Early Learning Framework.


• Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively with diverse stakeholders.


• Strong organizational, communication, and presentation skills.


• Capacity to exercise independent judgment in complex situations.


• Proven conflict resolution skills and the ability to handle sensitive issues with discretion.

COMPENSATION:

The salary for this role ranges from $79,668 to $99,585, accompanied by a comprehensive benefits package.
