Position: Production Manager

About Voyis:

Voyis specializes in the design and production of advanced underwater optical sensors tailored for subsea vehicles, including laser scanners, cameras, and lighting systems. Our innovative products empower clients to explore and survey vast oceanic regions, contributing to the 3D reconstruction of notable shipwrecks such as the RMS Titanic and HMS Endurance. Our mission is to redefine underwater exploration capabilities, enabling every subsea vehicle to achieve visibility akin to surface-level observation.

Key Responsibilities:

As the Production Manager at Voyis, you will be responsible for overseeing the entire manufacturing process and managing the skilled technologists who assemble, test, and validate our products at the Waterloo facility. This role encompasses a broad range of duties, including personnel management, training, scheduling, and the establishment of Lean Manufacturing methodologies and culture. We are looking for a seasoned production manager eager to contribute their expertise to a dynamic and rapidly growing organization, shaping the manufacturing department into a leading-edge operation.

Reporting to the Director of Operations, you will collaborate closely with Quality and Engineering managers to support production activities. Your focus will be on managing personnel, facilitating training programs, and addressing daily scheduling and operational challenges. As the operations team expands, the ideal candidate will leverage their proven experience in lean manufacturing to develop new processes related to product introduction, continuous improvement, 5S practices, health and safety, and fostering a culture centered on teamwork and quality.

Specific duties include:

· Overseeing personnel management for manufacturing technologists, including training, development, recruitment, and departmental organization.

· Coordinating weekly schedules, prioritizing tasks, and resolving obstacles during daily meetings.

· Designing and implementing a comprehensive training program for the production team.

· Representing the manufacturing team during new product launches, engineering changes, and initiatives to ensure effective execution.

· Developing and executing new departmental processes focused on continuous improvement, 5S, and industry best practices.

· Monitoring and reporting on production metrics and initiatives.

· Cultivating a culture rooted in teamwork, quality, and lean manufacturing principles.

Note: This position requires in-person attendance at our headquarters in Waterloo. While there may be limited opportunities for remote work, the role necessitates being present with the team to build our products.

Qualifications:

· Minimum of 3 years of experience in Production Management within an electronics manufacturing environment.

· Engineering or Technologist certification in electrical, mechanical/mechatronics, or quality disciplines.

· Proficient understanding of Lean Manufacturing principles and their practical application.

· Hands-on experience with electrical assembly and testing, including soldering, connector assembly, and wiring.

· Proven ability to facilitate technical training and develop robust operational processes.

· Familiarity with Quality Management Systems and manufacturing quality assurance activities.

· A proactive mindset with a commitment to continuous improvement and the ability to thrive in uncertain situations.

Preferred Qualifications:

Experience with ERP systems, such as NetSuite. Background in New Product Introductions, prototyping, and product development. Knowledge of IPC-620/610 standards, experience with PCBA testing, and handling ESD-sensitive materials. Familiarity with embedded computing technologies, cameras, lenses, CNC machining, and metal fabrication. Six Sigma certification.

Benefits:

· Flexible working hours, five weeks of vacation, and a commitment to work-life balance.

· Personal education funds directed by employees to promote continuous learning.

· Profit-sharing opportunities to celebrate collective achievements.

· Regular company-wide social gatherings.

· RRSP matching and comprehensive health and vision benefits.

Why Choose Voyis:

Our team consists of innovative problem-solvers dedicated to pushing the boundaries of underwater exploration. We are passionate about creating cutting-edge technology and engaging in exciting projects, including explorations of historical shipwrecks.
